What Is a Custom Domain?

A custom domain lets you use a domain you own as a temporary email address — instead of a shared Mail.td domain.

Example

Instead of yourname@mail.td, you could receive email at shop@yourdomain.com, login@yourdomain.com, or any local-part you pick — where yourdomain.com is a domain you own and control.

How it works

You add your domain in the Mail.td Pro dashboard
You update one DNS MX record to point to Mail.td
You create the mailboxes you want on @yourdomain.com from the Pro dashboard — each one starts receiving instantly

Pick the local-parts you want — shop@, login@, newsletter@ — instead of a random string

Custom domains are a Pro feature. Each Pro account supports up to 5 custom domains.

Do I need to own the domain?

Yes. Custom domain mode requires you to control DNS for the domain you add. Verification happens through an MX record change.

Can multiple Mail.td accounts share a domain?

No. Each custom domain is exclusive to one Pro account at a time — your domain isn't shared with other users.

How many custom domains can I add?

Up to 5 custom domains per Pro account, all managed from one Pro dashboard.

What happens if I downgrade to Free?

Custom domain support is disabled. You'd need to point the MX record back to your normal mail provider, or repoint to Mail.td when you resubscribe to Pro.

Does Mail.td see the email content from my custom domain?

Yes — Mail.td receives mail to display it to you, just like any mail provider. Mail.td processes message contents to render them in the inbox UI; messages are deleted once the retention window expires.
